Congratulations to the 2016 Craigdarroch Research Award Winners!

The Craigdarroch Research Awards took place on May 5th 2016 at the University of Victoria. The awards celebrate research excellence at UVic, with the award recipients being honoured for their commitment to the fundamental value of freedom of inquiry.

Award recipients push the boundaries of discovery, creativity, and innovation, having direct impact on the world through their research.

This year’s awards and recipients are:

David H. Turpin Gold Medal for Career Achievement in Research

  1. Dr. Verena Tunnicliffe – Department of Biology and School of Earth and Ocean Sciences

Craigdarroch Silver Medal for Excellence in Research

  • Dr. Maxim Pospelov – Department of Physics and Astronomy

Craigdarroch Award for Excellence in Artistic Expression

  • Professor Bill Gaston – Department of Writing

Craigdarroch Award for Excellence in Knowledge Mobilization

  • Dr. Jay T. Cullen – School of Earth and Ocean Sciences

Craigdarroch Award for Excellence in Research Partnerships

  • Mr. Owen Matthews, Wesley Clover International & the Alacrity Foundation, and Drs. Thomas Darcie and Stephen Neville – Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering

We want to offer our congratulations to all of the 2016 Craigdarroch Research Awards recipients and are thrilled to see our very own Owen Matthews is being honored.
